Renewable energy is the energy that is derived from natural resources that are replenished at a higher rate than they are consumed for example sunlight and wind are such sources which are constantly being replenished after consuming. There are a lot of renewable energy sources around us like solar energy, wind energy, hydroelectric energy, ocean energy, geothermal energy, biomass, hydrogen etc. Now the question is that can the world run on renewable energy?

The answer is yes because we have enough materials that can power the world with renewable Energy.

As per the study which was conducted in Finland's LUT University (LUT) and Energy watch group (EWG), a Globally renewable energy system can become a reality if there will be zero CHG emissions before 2050 which can be more cost effectively than the nuclear - based energy system and current fossil. Uganda and Sweden are the only two countries which can become 100% renewable by 2040 or 2050.

The world's population may rise from 7.7 billion to 9.7 billion by 2050 and accordingly the demand for the total energy may also increase by almost 2% annually. According to the report which emphasized that energy production decentralisation will become important for increased efficiency. Moreover we must transition from fossil fuels to electricity based sources or biofuels like algae fuels and biodiesel. Carbon intensive Energy options can be possibly replaced in the power and heat sectors by 2030, while the transport sector can become carbon free between 2030 and 2050.

The report claims that the energy system will be replaced by a mix of renewable energy sources like solar and wind energy and it can make up 88% of the total energy supply and the report predicts that it can support 35 million local jobs with solar jobs being the leading one. China is one of the world's leading source of renewable investment and largest solar manufacturer.

As per the reports by Solar Energy industries Association that solar market grew by 41% in 2013, and it was about 20% of all the new generating capacity in that year. There has been a growth in both solar and wind energy since 2013 and about 47 gigawatts of wind energy has been installed around the world.

Fossil fuels like coal, natural gas and oil are not renewable energy sources and they can exhaust after some time and we may not be able to produce them again.According to United States Energy Information Administration (EIA), renewable energies make up to 15% of our total electricity generation and there has been an increase in renewable energy investments. About 139 countries are responsible for 99 % of global carbon emissions as per the study and the planet should become renewable by 2050 as found in a research by a group of researchers.

Noor Abu Dhabi is one of the world's largest solar plant. It contains about 3.2 million solar panels and it can produce 1.17 gigawatts of power, which can suffice the need of about 90,000 people while reducing carbon emissions by 1 million metric tons.

Conclusion:

Since Renewable energy can reduce the green house gas emissions significantly if replaced with Fossil fuels. The world can run on renewable energy or can reach a 100 % renewable energy system by or before 2050.
