Chris Stark, set to resign as the chief executive of the independent Climate Change Committee, stated that UK climate policy has become less ambitious.

Stark stated in an upcoming interview that recovering from such a situation is extremely challenging.

"I think it's set us back."

Sunak, amid cost-of-living pressure and opposition to the Labour Party, has slowed down some measures to achieve net zero emissions.

Delaying car and domestic heating targets is pragmatic to maintain British people's consent and the country's net zero goal by 2050.

Stark, who will become chief executive of Carbon Trust, emphasized the need for more work on heating homes, managing industrial emissions, and improving farming and transport systems in Britain.

"I definitely feel we're at risk," he said.

Britain has set one of the most ambitious 2035 climate change targets, making it the first major economy to halve greenhouse gas emissions since 1990.

The spokesperson stated that the company is committed to achieving net zero goals sustainably by protecting energy security, reducing burdens on hard-working individuals, and ensuring transparency about the choices involved to support climate targets.
